Perhaps it's the intense ferocity that women tend to display when fighting that seems ever so erotic. It goes against what we've been taught in society: that women are the fairer sex - soft and sweet. Watching women fight seems so wrong and yet we watch with voyeuristic glee.

City of Life and Death (Chinese: !)is an upcoming Chinese film directed by Lu Chuan, marking his third feature film.

The film deals with the Battle of Nanjing and its aftermath (commonly referred to as "The Rape of Nanking" or the "Nanking Massacre") during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The film is also known as Nanking! Nanking! or Nanjing! Nanjing!. While originally slated for a 2008 release, the director-general of the Chinese Film Bureau announced in September that the film could be delayed to an early 2009 release.

City of Life and Death takes place in 1937, during the height of the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Imperial Japanese Army has just captured the then-capital of the Republic of China, Nanjing. What followed was known as the Nanking Massacre, or the Rape of Nanking, a period of several weeks wherein tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed. The film tells the story of several figures, both historical and fictional, including a Chinese soldier, a schoolteacher, a Japanese soldier, a foreign missionary, and John Rabe, a Nazi businessman who would ultimately save thousands of Chinese civilians.

Add kung fu to anything and it's going to kick ass. At least, that's the likely reasoning behind the titles of Kung Fu Dunk, Kung Fu Tea, and now Kung Fu Hip Hop, the inspirational street dance film starring Fan Bing-Bing and Jordan Chan.

Originally titled Kung Fu Pop in China - but possibly re-titled for Hong Kong because the China name sounds like a soft drink - Kung Fu Hip Hop is the touching story of a man, a woman, and how they both dare to dream. In her case, she dares to feel the beat, find her true love, and resurrect her fingers - whatever that means. In his case, he dares to honor his grandfather's kung fu, admit that he actually likes to dance, plus pay his sister's medical bills and celebrate his youth despite pushing forty years of age (Jordan Chan, we're talking about you). The obstacle: a Korean guy. Truly, Kung Fu Hip Hop has instant classic written all over it.
